MANUAL MOSS REMOVAL
For an efficient clean we recommend moss is removed from your roof to prevent gutters from filling up again by falling
moss.
Moss may look pretty but it holds water and stops it from flowing off your roof meaning that your roof rarely dries out;
all materials degrade Five times faster when wet, drastically reducing the lifespan of your roof! Moss is not our friend!
Keeping your roof dry is essential and there's no better way to do it than with a complete moss removal.
What to expect on the day.
On moss removal day we would need any cars to be removed from around the house or any other building where the
work is to be carried out. We would cover any delicate garden areas such as flower beds, gravel borders, statuettes etc.
During the moss removal process some tiles might become dislodged, these are normally the ones that are weak, faulty
or have hairline cracks covered by the overlapping tile above, all these tiles would be replaced for new ones on the day
and at no extra cost. Once all moss is cleared we would clear your gutters, test your down pipes, sweep, clean up and if
you have no compost heap or garden bins we will take the moss away.
If you have Cotswold stone.
We would need to assess the roof first and decide whether a gentle manual option would be viable or if not, the
chemical option.
CHEMICAL MOSS REMOVAL
This is the gentlest option but it's normally more suited to roofs that have a light covering of moss. The products we
use are 100% ECO friendly, we spray the stuff onto the moss and it naturally falls off over time, one or two gutter
clearing visits would be required.
ANTI-FUNGAL MOSS & LICHEN TREATMENT
After care.
After either one of the options have been carried out your roof will be moss free, but in order to keep the moss from
returning we would have to return to apply an anti-fungal spray every one to five years depending on your house
location, orientation and type of roof tiles.
DIFFICULT ACCESSESS
We are specialists in getting up onto areas of roofs where cherry pickers, scaffolding and even the boldest of
roofers dare venture. Speak to our specialist "rope access" team for more information.
“ROOF REVIVAL”
Most roof tiles in the UK have great weather enduring qualities, however there is one specific roof tile which does not
stand the test of time. The very thin, black or grey fibre-cement slate, which can be seen everywhere in the UK.
These tiles will lose their black protective coating over time (normally between 10-15 years), as a result they become
porous allowing water to be absorbed, the water then expands through freezing, cracking the tiles, you won’t see this
until the tiles end up on your floor. Another thing that happens when these become porous is that they curl at the
edges, enough for the wind to get a good hold on them.
BEFORE this happens, it is a great idea to coat them (literally paint your roof) with the same protective layer that they
were made with and extend their life by another 5-10 years. Not only will this protect your roof from ageing and look
like a new roof, it will also cover any existing hairline cracks, and the likelihood of new cracks will be greatly reduced!

BIRD PROOFING
Sadly, birds are increasingly encroaching onto our roofs, they nest in our chimney pots and behind our solar panels, they
cause damage and a lot of muck. The friendliest way to stop this is by bird-proofing. We use bird spikes, mesh, solar
guards, bird netting and bird wires to stop this becoming a problem. Please contact us for more information and a free
assessment.
ASBESTOS REMOVAL
Aaaaaaargh! It’s asbestos! Yes, do call us if you have any doubts, DO NOT try to remove it yourself as asbestos does
kill. Eventually.
We work closely with registered asbestos carriers, and they have all the kit needed to remove and dispose of your old
asbestos roof or gutters safely.
ROOF RESTORATION
Despite what anyone tells you, (normally a rogue trader) you will rarely need a new roof. There are many instances
where the cost of a new roof can be avoided. In most cases it’s just a matter of repairing a section of roof, a broken
rafter or similar a torn membrane or similar. We will only recommend a new roof if the cost of a restoration project
outweighs its long-term benefits.
INTERNAL MEMBRANE
This is something that we have come up with and are in the process of developing a patentable product. It is a solution
that will give your roof a new membrane without having to remove the whole roof. It is a very new concept and for this
reason we do not divulge too much information publicly. For more information, please contact us.
